Alistair Campbell is the Head of the Birmingham Resilience Team and is responsible for ensuring the team’s work programme enables Council compliance with the Civil Contingencies Act. Alistair is a senior Council representative for multi agency resilience as part of planning, response and recovery matters. Alistair also forms part of the on-call rota as an Emergency Planning Duty Officer for the City Council. |

Mariola Smallman, Principal Emergency Planning Officer has lead responsibility for overseeing the Council’s corporate resilience planning framework, including plans and arrangements for emergency response, business continuity and recovery planning. Mariola provides specialised advice and support to directorates to enable council wide compliance with statutory resilience duties and the promotion of business continuity planning to Birmingham businesses. Mariola also leads on specific contingency plans including: influenza pandemic, fuel disruption, recovery and emergency mortuary arrangements and contributes to contingency planning matters related to high profile events. Mariola also forms part of the on-call rota as an Emergency Planning Duty Officer for the City Council. |

Veronica Coleman is a Principal Emergency Planning Officer responsible for overseeing planning and arrangements for the Council’s community engagement programme and ensuring warning and informing strategies are in place to effectively communicate with the public before, during and after emergencies. Veronica is also responsible for ensuring planning and response arrangements for emergency welfare are fit for purpose. Veronica maintains an active Birmingham Communities and Neighborhoods Resilience Group, with members drawn from across the city, which ensures community and voluntary sector engagement is integral to our work. Veronica also forms part of the on-call rota as an Emergency Planning Duty Officer for the City Council. |

Melanie Dinnis is an Emergency Planning Officer with lead responsibility for a number for specific planning areas: flood, reservoir inundation and aspects of severe weather response planning. Melanie works with multi agency partners to ensure City Centre evacuation planning is robust and takes an active role in multi agency training and exercising. Melanie is the Team’s lead contact for matters relating to contingency planning for high profile events such as political party conferences. Melanie actively contributes to our community engagement activities by supporting constituency colleagues and community representatives involved in flood action groups. Melanie also forms part of the on-call rota as an Emergency Planning Duty Officer for the City Council. |

Jawaid Akhtar is an Emergency Planning Officer leading on publications, and promotional matters associated with communicating emergency preparedness. Jawaid is responsible for managing the Birmingham Emergency Planning Support Officers, who regularly promote resilience to our communities and neighborhoods across the city at a diverse range of events, festivals and shows. Jawaid also leads on training and advice in relation to Equalities Act and other legislation impacting on resilience. Jawaid also forms part of the on-call rota as an Emergency Planning Duty Officer for the City Council. |

Mark Harris and David Aston are Assistant Emergency Planning Officers maintaining a wide range of office and organisational support systems, assisting with events organisation and departmental procurement. Mark and David contribute to the Team’s training and exercising programme and assist on a wide range of projects in conjunction with our partners in the emergency services. Mark and David each have responsibility for maintaining aspects of the Corporate Major Emergency Plan and arrangements. |

The team works with multi agency partners on a regular and ongoing basis. The team is based in the Council’s Emergency Co-ordination Centre which is fully equipped to accommodate emergency services personnel as part of joint working for planning purposes and as part of an emergency activation.
