Fire in Flats on Chester Road, Erdington

Update at Midnight

The emergency services response on scene is scaling down.  West Midlands Ambulance Service attended the scene and have now left.  West Midlands Fire Service have extinguished the fire and most of the Fire Service resources have left the scene.  One crew remains at scene but are expected to leave shortly.  The Chester Road continues to be unaffected and remains open. 

21:15hrs

We have been notified by West Midlands Fire Service of a fire at a low rise block of flats, 828 Chester Road, Erdington.  The fire is reported to have started in the basement and spread to the flats above.  Six fire engines and a foam unit are in attendance.  Residents have been evacuated and are being looked after.  There are no reported injuries.  The Chester Road remains open.
