Fire at Harborne Primary School

Harborne Primary School is currently being assessed by structural engineers. West Midlands Fire Service are maintaining a watching brief on the site. All road closures have been removed. This is the final update on this incident.

Fire appliances at the scene of the fire are being reduced as good progress has been made in tackling the fire.  Specialist contractors are on standby to access the damage to the school and decide on future actions.

Roads remain closed at the moment.

We will provide a further update once roads have been re-opened.

We have no further information to add at present.  Residents in the immediate area are advised to keep doors and windows closed if being affected by smoke from this fire.

Station Road, Emerson Road and Wentworth Road remain closed.

The fire service are still dealing with this fire and have 11 fire appliances at the scene.  Roads around the school are likely to remain closed for the remainder of the afternoon. 

Messages should have reached all parents of children at the junior and infant schools to collect their children from the locations below.

We have no more information at this stage about the cause of the fire or the extent of the damage to the school.


West Midlands Fire Service are currently dealing with a fire at Harborne Primary School. All staff and pupils have been evacuated safely.

Parents are requested to collect children from St Johns Hall (infants) or the Gala Bingo Hall (juniors).

Station Road, Emerson Road and Wentworth Road have been closed and so traffic disruption can be expected.
