Hot on the heels of hosting the Jamaican Olympic team, a free, five-day festival – Jamaica in the Square – kicks off from 2nd until 6th August, in Victoria Square. And it’s set to ramp-up the already-electric atmosphere in the ‘Live Site’ still further.

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Jamaican Independence, attractions include speciality food stalls, Caribbean punch at the festival’s reggae lounge bars, great live music (from soca to dancehall), dazzling dance performances, craft markets, and entertainment for all ages.

Plus visitors can still enjoy all the Olympic action – including the 100 and 200-metre finals – as well as a live link-up to Jamaica.

Birmingham Resilience Team will also be attending providing advice and information on being more prepared for emergencies and promoting Birmingham Community Alert.
