Unauthorised and unplanned march in City Centre

Update @ 13:00

A spontaneous march through the City Centre has now ended.  The group are now taking place in a static protest outside the Mailbox and are intending to finish their protest by 2pm.  The march was managed by the Police with rolling road closues along an unplanned route.   The Police are in attendance at the protest site.  The Mailbox is open as normal.

We will not issue any more updates unless further disruption is likely.

Update @ 12:40

The protest is heading to BBC Mailbox and have stated their intention to finish by 2pm.

12:03:

An unplanned and unauthorised march is making its way through the City Centre from the direction of St. Chad’s side of the City. We understand the march to include about 100-150 people protesting about the election campaign in Congo.

We are unsure of the groups intentions, therefore please be aware this may cause some disruption in the city centre this lunchtime.
