West Midlands Police have issued the following information concerning a protest in Birmingham City Centre today (Thursday, 16th February).

Protesters will be seeking to publicise their ongoing concerns over the electoral process in the Democratic Republic of Congo.  Estimates suggest that anywhere in the region of 200 to 2,000 people may attend the event which will be held in Victoria Square from 11:00 am.  BRT and other officers within the Council have been working closely with the Police, other partners and the organisers to ensure that the event will run smoothly and safely. Police officers will be closely monitoring developments and we will update this posting as and when necessary.
