Birmingham will be filled with a sea of red and gold on Sunday 29 January as Chinese New Year welcomes the Year of the Dragon with an afternoon of free entertainment at the Arcadian Centre. Dragon dances, acrobatic performances and Kung Fu demonstrations are just some of the cultural entertainment that will be on offer.

An afternoon of fun for all the family with a range of activities and stalls.

Birmingham Resilience Team will also be present providing advice on being more prepared for emergencies including the severe weather as well as being able to sign up to Birmingham Community Alert.

Project ARGUS is a National Counter Terrorism Security Office (NaCTSO) initiative, exploring ways to aid you in preventing, handling and recovering from a terrorist attack.  It achieves this by taking businesses through a simulated terrorist attack.

NaCTSO has developed a series of Project ARGUS sessions that are adapted to suit different sectors. The next session is designed specifically for the retail, business and commercial sectors. This is taking place at the Council House, Victoria Square, Birmingham on:

Birmingham Mind have organised a Community Information Afternoon, they will be providing information about services provided and how people can volunteer. There will be advice from Health Trainers about healthy living and keeping fit as well as financial advice and adult education.

Birmingham Resilience Team will also be attending with information and advice about being more prepared for emergencies as well as signing up to Birmingham Community Alert.

Diwali is one of the biggest events in the Indian calendar. The true spirit of Diwali is to bring different communities together so that new relationships may be born.

This year, the celebrations will take place in the New Bingley Hall in Hockley. The Hindu Council of Birmingham, with the support of Birmingham City Council, will be hosting the celebrations.
