Chinese New Year Celebrations

Birmingham will be filled with a sea of red and gold on Sunday 29 January as Chinese New Year welcomes the Year of the Dragon with an afternoon of free entertainment at the Arcadian Centre. Dragon dances, acrobatic performances and Kung Fu demonstrations are just some of the cultural entertainment that will be on offer.

Programme of events on the main stage in the Arcadian Centre:

12.30pm Entrance of the Dragon Dance and Firecrackers (Choy Lee Fut Kung Fu Academy)

12.50pm Speeches

12.55pm Welcoming the Chinese God of Wealth (Birmingham Chinese Women’s Association)

1pm Kung Fu demonstration (Choy Lee Fut Kung Fu Academy)

1.30pm Children’s Dances (Overseas Chinese Association School)

1.35pm Acrobatics Performance (Bai-Ling Chinese Arobatics Co.)

2.35pm Dragon Dancing on Poles (Choy Lee Fut Kung Fu Academy)

3pm Acrobatics and Wushu Performance (Jin Long Chinese Martial Arts Academy)

5pm Final Appearance of the Dragon Dance (Choy Lee Fut Kung Fu Academy)

5.25pm Firework Finale

5.30pm Close
