 Birmingham FloodFest is a free event for you to find out more about flood risk in Birmingham  and plans to help tackle it.

It is being held at the Council House, Victoria Square, Birmingham B1 1BB. You can drop in at any time on the day, there will be a keynote speech at 6.15pm.


If you are a resident, business, voluntary or community group, a developer or have a professional interest in flood risk, FloodFest is for you!

FloodFest marks the launch of:

Birmingham has experienced a number of large scale floods in recent years. It is estimated that over 30,000 properties are at risk of flooding. Indeed more properties are at risk of surface water flooding from severe rain in Birmingham than anywhere else in the UK outside London.. FloodFest will explore what can be done to tackle flood risk in the future.

Birmingham City Council, the Environment Agency and the River Rea Catchment Partnership are the hosts. You will have the opportunity to find out more, have your say, and discover how you can play a part in protecting Birmingham from floods.

Throughout the day partner presenters including Birmingham Resilience Team, Severn Trent Water, and Birmingham and Black Country Wildlife Trust, will be sharing information about their work. You can drop in at a time to suit you to tour the stands and discuss how these plans affect you.

At 6.15pm Councillor Tahir Ali (Cabinet Member for Development, Transport and the Economy) will make a keynote speech and formally launch the consultation on the flood risk management strategy for Birmingham.
