Achievement of Customer Service Excellence

Birmingham Resilience Team has been awarded the Customer Service Excellence (CSE) Government Standard, becoming the first ‘Emergency Planning Team’ to do so in the UK.

CSE_logoThe Government is advocating public services for all that are efficient, effective, excellent, equitable and empowering – with the citizen always and everywhere at the heart of public service provision. With this in mind the CSE standard was developed to offer public services a practical tool for driving customer-focused change within their organisation.

G4S Assessment Services hosted an event dedicated to recognising those organisations accredited for the Cabinet Office’s prestigious award. The event, held on 7 October, comprised key note speakers including Emma Peake from the Cabinet Office and Simon Murphy, Managing Director of G4S Assessment Services.
An awards presentation followed recognising those organisations which have demonstrated the highest levels of commitment required to achieve this standard. Over 100 organisation representatives attended, predominantly from the public sector.  Birmingham Resilience Team has been working for a number of months in obtaining evidence to demonstrate how they met the requirements of the national standard.

CSO_photoIn addition to the Birmingham Resilience Team, a number of teams within Birmingham City Council were also successful in being awarded the CSE standard.

Martin Tolman, Head of Birmingham Resilience said, “We are very pleased to have reached this standard and this recognises our commitment to delivering a citizen based approach in all that we do.”

“We have so many examples of how we have led the way in the field of community resilience and the award recognises this.”

Gary Swarbrooke, Director of Operations at G4S Assessment Services, commented “During these tough economic times we are delighted to acknowledge those organisations that have become more effective and driven to meeting their customer’s needs.”
