Working together for a resilient Birmingham.

Emergency Planning Society West Midlands AGM

The Annual General Meeting of the Emergency Planning Society West Midlands Branch was held on 19 January 2017 at Worcestershire County Council, County Hall.

Representatives were present from across the conurbation. The Chief Guest was Inspector Lisa Jayne-Robson from West Midlands Police who did a presentation on Operation Pelkin, planning for the Conservative Party Conference that was held in Birmingham in October 2016. Members all found this very interesting, informative and useful to hear first hand what goes into planning for such a high-profile event. Which involved multi-agency partners co-operating locally, regionally and nationally to ensure that everything goes to plan but to be ready for any eventuality.

Apart from normal business which saw the re-election of the Branch committee. A number of members had stepped down or left and were thanked for their previous contributions to the society. Jawaid Akhtar was nominated and elected as Vice Chairman. Members also had a chance to look at and discuss the new Emergency Planning Society website
