Exercise Aries 2013 – Pandemic Flu exercise

Exercise Aries 2013 was a scenario based table top exercise held on 2nd December in the Council House.  The exercise provided Council colleagues and representatives from key partner agencies with an opportunity to raise awareness of the Council’s corporate flu pandemic planning arrangements and to raise issues for a wide range of Council service areas and multi‑agency partners to consider.  Participants were presented with a series of scenario challenges and questions that either directly related to their individual service area or were plausible external impacts / events applicable to a “slow-burn” pandemic event.  The Exercise was developed and delivered by Birmingham Resilience Team with assistance from Public Health England colleagues, who acted as critical friends for the scenario.  The Council’s Pandemic Flu Plan is based on the national guidance and planning assumptions produced by the Department of Health.
