Improved Met Office Weather Warning Service

The Met Office has today made changes to their National Severe Weather Warning Service.

Warnings will now be based on both the impact and likelihood that an event may occur and will be designated as either ‘Alerts’ or ‘Warnings’. ‘Alerts’ will be issued when the weather event is more than 24 hours away.  If the weather event is expected within the next 24 hours, this will be issued as a ‘Warning’.

The weather illustrations on the Met Office website have also been improved with new visual displays and icons. For more information on these changes please visit www.metoffice.gov.uk
