Working together for a resilient Birmingham.

Major exercise in Birmingham city centre on Thursday 15 August

Emergency services, Birmingham City Council, other agencies who respond in emergencies and public volunteers will be taking part in a major exercise in and around Birmingham’s International Convention Centre on Thursday 15 August.

The exercise is part of a European study aimed at further developing the way police, fire and ambulance services respond to emergency incidents.

The exercise begins at 9:30am and runs throughout the day until approximately 2:00pm.

There will be a highly-visible emergency services presence in and around the ICC on the day.

All roads, public spaces and businesses will remain open as usual throughout the exercise.

There will be no impact on visitors, businesses or residents other than the heightened emergency services presence.

Members of the public should not be concerned about the activity taking place in and around ICC on 15 August.

In order to make the scenario as realistic as possible we cannot provide any further details about the exact nature of the scenario until the day of the exercise.

The choice of location and scenario does not imply that such an event is either likely or imminent.
