Working together for a resilient Birmingham.

New mapping feature to improve website

A new map feature to show information about emergencies has been launched by Birmingham Resilience Team.

The Birmingham Prepared website (www.birminghamprepared.gov.uk) is already updated with  information when significant incidents take place in the City.  In addition to text, a map is now able to be displayed with the location of the incident as well as any useful information in the form of markers; such as road closures, information points or evacuation centres.

Glen Curry, Emergency Planning Officer for Birmingham City Council said, “Our website has proved extremely popular, especially our live updates with advice and information when incidents are occurring in Birmingham”.

“Adding a map which we can customise with different markers will really improve the experience for our website visitors and provide more visual feel to the information we have available on the incident.”

The feature is now available on the Birmingham Prepared website and used for all future incident posts.
