Pritesh to Carry Olympic Torch for Birmingham

The details of the torch-bearers for the Olympics Torch Relay were recently announced, and we were delighted to hear that Pritesh Pattni, one of our Resilience Champions, will be one of those carrying the torch for Birmingham!

Pritesh was nominated by the county sports partnership and Badminton England through Sport England  He was nominated for his many good works in the field of community sports development. He has run a Badminton club in the Aston area for the past 24 years and motivated a group of coaches at his club to go out and coach within the community.

Recently Pritesh set up the first disability badminton club in the West Midlands in which he coaches and has organised a number of tournaments. He is also currently working as an inspirational facilitator for Sport England and on a research project with the Workers Educational Association to identify barriers to healthy living in Birmingham. His energy and enthusiasm knows no bounds.

Pritesh promotes resilience though the community and at local events and was also awarded the title of Badminton England volunteer of the year. He was a finalist in the Sports Personality Volunteer Awards at the BBC in the Midlands.

We are all really proud of Pritesh and wish him all the very best for his participation in what is sure to be a truly memorable occasion.
