Colmore Business District (CBD) teamed up with Birmingham Opera Company to provide the local community with the opportunity to learn or improve their singing techniques, through a series of rehearsal sessions, before a live performance at Birmingham’s most prominent cultural events, Artsfest.

Mariola and Veronica from Birmingham Resilience Team have been members of the group since their first rehersal and performed alongside local accountants, lawyers, administrative assistants and property specialists at the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery.  The collection of gospel and choral songs were performed in front of an audience of friends, family and the general public.

Tahreen Kutub, CBD communications co-ordinator explained more: “Colmore Chorus has provided the local community with an opportunity to come together, learn new skills and have a lot of fun in the process.”

Choir member Mariola Smallman from the Birmingham Resilience Team has been part of Colmore Chorus since the first rehearsal: “Learning singing techniques is something that helps with both vocal projection and confidence with public speaking. I’ve really enjoyed the experience.”
