Smurfit Kappa Fire – Case Study Seminar – Free seminar – Friday 13th September

Smurfit Kappa experienced a major fire at their Nechells, Birmingham site earlier this year – thousands of tonnes of cardboard alight; 7 of the 22 acre site was affected; 100 fire fighters and 20 fire appliances attended the scene. Despite the scale of the fire, there were no injuries and thanks to the pre-incident emergency planning and contingency arrangements of Smurfit Kappa, the West Midlands Fire Service and others, business activities resumed on-site within 44 hours.

If you are responsible for incident management, contingency planning and/or facilities management and would like to hear more about successful planning, preparation and working with emergency responders in the event of fire at your premises, please book your free seminar place by emailing emergencyplanning@birmingham.gov.uk  with your full name, job title, business name and address and confirm any special requirements (dietary or access).

The seminar will take place on Friday 13th September, 0900 – 1100hrs at The Council House, Victoria Square, Birmingham B1 1BB. Refreshments will be available.

Please note that the Council House does not have parking facilities, but is well served by public transport and numerous public car parks are nearby.
