Swine Flu review published

An independant review of the response to last year’s swine flu outbreak has been published.

The government’s “proportionate and effective” response to the outbreak has been estimated at a cost of £1.2 billion and the review makes 28 recommendations aimed at ensuring a better response to any future pandemic.

There were over 800,000 cases of swine flu across the UK and 457 deaths, although most suffers had only mild symptoms.

The report acknowledges the years of planning agencies have been undertaking in the event of a flu pandemic.
