Working together for a resilient Birmingham.

The New Canal and River Trust

On the 2 July 2012, British Waterways ceased to exist in England and Wales and in its place the Canal and River Trust is born.  Staff from British Waterways and The Waterways Trust now work for the Canal and River Trust.  The Trust will have its own branding which people will begin to associate with their work across Birmingham.

Importantly the new Canal and River Trust will continue the work of the previous agencies to ensure our historic canals and rivers are a local haven for people and nature.  Being a charity will enable more people to support their work by getting involved either by donating, fundraising or volunteering.  For more information on these changes and the future vision of the Trust please go to their website here.
