Fire at Premier Waste UK Ltd Walsall Rd Perry Barr

West Midlands Fire Service remain on scene, there may still be delays to traffic around the area although roads are open. 

Update Mon August 5th August 0842hrs

The Walsall Road has been reopened both ways but traffic in the area is still heavy. West Midlands Fire Service are still on scene with other multi-agency partners who are considering any possible impacts of the fire.

Mon 5th August 0625hrs

West Midlands Fire Service are at the scene of a fire where they have deployed a number of fire appliances, fire fighters and equipment for a substantial fire at Premier Waste UK Ltd 209-211 Walsall Road Perry Barr. The Fire is believed to involve 500 tonnes of paper.

The West Midlands Police are also on scene and supporting with traffic in the area.  The Walsall Road A34 has been closed due to the incident at Clivedon Avenue out of City and at Church Lane  coming in to the City.  These diversions will cause delays, so allow more time for your journey or choose alternative routes if possible.

Concerned residents who have called the Fire Service have been advised to keep doors and windows closed as normal procedures to limit any smoke coming in to their homes.
