WMFS are looking at scaling back resources

Update: 29th March 2016 @ 23:15

West Midland Fire Service are continuing to manage the fire, it is anticipated that they will remain on site for 48 hours.

At 19:45 this evening power was lost to between 5,000 and 10,000 homes in the Yardley, Small Heath, Sparkhill and Sparkbrook areas.  Western power managed to restore power to all customers at approximately 21:00 this evening by diverting supplies.  It is anticipated that there may be issues with this supply in the morning when demand increases and commercial properties come on line.  Western Power are currently working on a generation plan to maintain as much supply as possible.  It is anticipated that as the Fire Service scale down their  presence at the scene  through the night, Western Power will be able to access the site to assess the damage to the pylons  and hopefully begin to repair the damage.

It is anticipated that nearby roads will re-open by the morning.
