Icy weather to continue into New Year.

Snow predicted for the West Midlands area covering Birmingham over the last 24 hours has been light and the impact minimal.  We are advised that the next 24 hours will witness periods of rain and sleet with some potential for snow to fall on higher ground over 200 metres.  Rain, sleet and any snow is expected to die away overnight.  The rest of the week is expected to be mostly dry but turning noticeably colder again with sharp overnight frosts.    Roads and pavements will be icy and the Highways Agency (www.highways.gov.uk/traffic ) is warning drivers throughout the UK to take care in icy conditions.
