Resilience News

We live in an ever changing and some would say exciting world, but we would be looking through rose tinted glasses if we did not accept that  we also live in a disruptive world.

As a city we regularly and successfully respond to emergencies such as severe weather, swine flu, floods, major fires, terrorist threats  to name but a few.  We respond successfully because the City Council, emergency services and other partner agencies are constantly working together to ensure that we have the necessary plans and working arrangements in place.  However we need to be and can be a much more resilient city if collectively and individually we take responsibility to make ourselves, our families and our communities more aware of what we can do to prepare and respond if and when disruptions occur.

Helping you to be more aware and prepared is the reason that we are producing Resilience News.  We want this to be a focal point that informs and keeps you up to date with news, ongoing work, suggestions and information.  We want you to know about the latest emergencies, who did what and when, what went well and what went wrong.  We want to highlight examples of how you can make yourselves and families better prepared to tackle disruptions. We want to get your thoughts and ideas and there will be times when we want to use Birmingham Resilience News as a platform for discussion.

We aim to make Resilience News informative, helpful and most of all interesting.  Have a read and if you have any comments, ideas or feedback please get in touch.
