Working together for a resilient Birmingham.

Preparing for the Emergency Services Show

Paul Obrey, Emergency Planning Officer, blogs on the arrangements Birmingham Resilience Team are making for their presence at the 2009 Emergency Services Show, to be held at Stoneleigh Park at the end of November.

The show is a growing platform for bringing together many organisations and equipment suppliers with the ultimate aim of improving public safety. And Birmingham Resilience Team were invited to attend.

Maybe it’s because of our recent resilience DVD, which provides information to the public on being prepared for emergencies. Or perhaps it’s down to the imminent launch of our Community Alert system which will provide prompt and targeted information to communities on incidents in their area. Either way, Birmingham is fast being recognised as at the forefront of community work around emergency planning and resilience, and our invitation to the show is more evidence of this.

So we’ll have a stand at the show which will be staffed by various members of the team over the 2-day duration along with a representative from HTK, the company which we’re working with to provide Community Alert. We’ll be showcasing our work and by doing so provoking discussion with partners and colleagues from around the country, which will benefit us all. As well as this Steve Grogan, Head of BRT, will be speaking at the conference running alongside the show.

So come along and meet us!
